In commemoration of PT Freeport Indonesia’s 57th anniversary, PT Pangansari Utama together with PT Freeport Indonesia supported by the Management of the Association of Indonesian Ophthalmologists (PERDAMI) held a free eye health service social service. This activity was carried out for a week for the people of Timika, Central Papua.
Health services include general eye health examinations, color blindness tests, eye refraction examinations and cataract surgery. In this social service, free glasses were also provided to the community.
Director of Human Capital of PT Pangansari Group, Avi Pranantha, said that social services for eye health services were carried out in nine villages from March 25 to April 6 2024.
Avi explained that the action was initiated by Media Group through PT Pangansari Utama as a form of commitment by the two companies supported by Perdami to help maintain the health of the Papuan people.
“This social service is an initiation of the Media Group Board of Directors through PT Pangansari Utama. We hope that this eye health service activity can bring benefits to the people of Papua. We also hope that it can increase public awareness to continue to check their health regularly, including early eye examinations,” Avi said.
PT Freeport Indonesia Community Health Development Manager, Daniel Perwira, appreciated this social service activity. He expressed his thanks to all the teams involved in helping carry out social service activities and all the residents who attended had their health checked.

The free eye health service social service started in Waa Banti Village, Tembagapura District on March 25 and continued to Mapurujaya Village, SP 9 Community Health Center, SP 12 Community Health Center, Mioko Village, Aikawapuka, Wumuka, and Kapiraya Village, Timika. The implementation of eye health services in Waa Banti Village which was held Monday 25 March 2024 went smoothly.
The person in charge of social services, Felix Lumban Tobing, who is also the Head of the Pratama Pangansari Clinic in Jakarta, said that there were 77 residents who had their eyes checked, consisting of residents of the Amungme Tribe, Moni Tribe, Damal Tribe, Dani Tribe and a number of other residents. This activity was assisted by 10 medical teams who went directly to check people’s eye health.
Social service activities in Mapurujaya Village, Timika, also went smoothly. The person in charge of the Media Group Clinic, Fatmasari Diah Permata, said that almost 300 Papuans attended to have their eyes checked. Some of them were followed up with cataract surgery.
Papuans said they were happy with the free eye health services provided by Pangansari Utama and Freeport Indonesia supported by Perdami. They hope that this activity can be carried out regularly so that people can avoid various eye diseases and other diseases. (RO/Z-11)
