SECRETARY General of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Eddy Soeparno hopes that Muhammadiyah can provide benefits to the people in managing the mine after officially receiving the offer of a management permit from the government. He reminded about the attitude of caution and professionalism in managing the mine.

“Since the beginning in Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, I have always conveyed the importance of the principle of caution in managing mining permits from the government. This is also what later became the principle of Muhammadiyah,” said Eddy in a written statement, Monday (29/7).

According to him, mining efforts have always been associated with environmental damage and carbon emissions. Therefore, his party has placed its hopes on Muhammadiyah to manage coal mines responsibly and comply with environmental conservation rules.

He said, the benefits for the people’s economy can be achieved if Muhammadiyah manages the mine by paying attention to aspects of good mining practices, environmental aspects, and aspects of benefits. As the head of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Eddy is committed to assisting Muhammadiyah in ensuring the right partner to manage the mine.

“Muhammadiyah must not be exploited by business people who do not work professionally and actually harm Muhammadiyah’s reputation in the future,” explained Eddy.

In line with that, he also hopes that the management of the mine by Muhammadiyah can become a role model that is accountable, oriented towards environmental sustainability and provides benefits for the welfare of the people. (Z-3)
