Beirut – “Al-Quds Al-Arabi”: The crisis of the loaf of bread and flour in Lebanon has worsened, and the Lebanese and residents are standing in Long queues in front of the bakeries For long hours, I witnessed some quarrels and clashes during the crowding to buy a bundle of bread.

And civil associations and organizations in Beirut stressed that queuing in front of bakeries is not an ordinary passing event, nor is it news that can be easily bypassed, but rather is a new type of humiliation.

The official of the People’s Committee in the Galilee camp, Karem Taha, confirmed that the loaf of bread crisis is a general crisis in Lebanon, and that the Galilee camp is part of the Lebanese situation. He added, “As a popular committee in the camp, we are unable to provide bread because the bakeries are closed and bread distributors will not be able to bring bread into the camp.”

Regarding the role of UNRWA in providing bread, Taha said, “The agency hardly tries to secure diesel, and in most cases it does not provide it. How will it be able to provide flour and bread to the Palestinian refugees in the camp? He moved a finger and we demanded that it intervene immediately to solve the crisis.”

In turn, the Palestinian refugee in the Galilee camp, Saeed Abu Naasa, confirmed that he wrote a poem regarding the bread crisis in the camp, and that the content of that poem is “All people have people crying over them except the Palestinian,” wondering regarding the role of the Palestinian factions in putting pressure on UNRWA to secure Flour is at this sensitive stage that Lebanon is going through, stressing that bread has been cut in the camps for 3 days.

Abu Na’asah called on UNRWA to establish an oven in each camp capable of accommodating people and providing flour so that people might buy a bundle of bread.

In this context, Baalbek Governor Bashir Khader issued a circular to the bakeries, in which he pointed out that “in light of the crisis experienced by the Lebanese citizen to obtain the subsidized bundle of bread, and the crowding over it by the Syrian displaced, the gatherings in front of the bakeries and the ranks of The long wait and the problems and inconsistencies that occur, and since there are people who get many bundles of bread, and some of them resell them on the black market, while others do not get any bundle, in order to set things straight, and to secure bread for every needy as much as possible. Kindly assign the concerned sectors to inform all the owners of the bakeries, of all their names, operating within the scope of Baalbek Governorate, to comply.

By selling bread to all those in actual need, within the numbers that would cover the needs of the largest possible segment, with priority given to the “Lebanese citizen.”
