Several Palestinian militants have been killed in an Israeli military operation in the West Bank city of Jenin. They were killed in a drone attack, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported on Tuesday. The Ministry of Health in Ramallah confirmed the deaths of a total of five people.
Israel’s army said terrorists hurled explosives at Israeli forces during a raid in Jenin. Several of them were then killed in an Israeli airstrike. Dozens of Palestinians were also reportedly arrested. The emergency services seized explosives and other weapons. They also dismantled an explosives production facility and found tunnel shafts in the area.
According to the Al-Aqsa Brigades, at least four of those killed were members of the armed group affiliated with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah party.
The situation in the West Bank has deteriorated significantly since the start of the war between Israel and the Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip on October 7th. According to the Ministry of Health, 269 Palestinians have been killed since then. According to the ministry, 465 Palestinians have died in Israeli military operations in the West Bank, confrontations or their own attacks since the beginning of the year.
