A Palestinian, aged 23, reportedly declared to Fedasil his intention to “die a martyr by blowing himself up”, wrote La DH and Het Laatste Nieuws on Wednesday.
The man submitted an asylum application in Belgium on September 26. Although he was scheduled to appear once more the next day, this was not the case. As he finally showed up at Fedasil on Tuesday, he reportedly expressed his desire to die as a martyr, mentioning that he had learned that his entire family had died in Gaza.
Following this statement, the latter was immediately reported nationally, triggering a manhunt by all police units in the country. After the attack in which two Swedes lost their lives, the police are taking no risks. Threat Level 3, indicating a serious threat, is currently in effect.
