ANOTHER Palestinian journalist was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip, bringing the total number of journalists killed since October 7 last year to 173, the Gaza media office said on Sunday (September 15).
According to the media outlet’s statement, Israeli forces killed Abdullah Shakshak, who worked for several Arab media outlets. The statement condemned Israel’s targeting of Palestinian journalists and called on the international community to hold the Israeli government accountable for crimes against
journalist.
The statement also urged the international community, international organizations, and organizations concerned with the media industry and journalism to confront the occupation (Israeli government), prosecute it in international courts for its ongoing crimes, and pressure it to stop the genocide and killing of Palestinian journalists.
Israel has continued its brutal assault on Gaza since a Hamas offensive last October, despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an emergency ceasefire. More than 41,200 people, mostly women and children, have since been killed and more than 95,300 injured, according to local health authorities.
The Israeli offensive has displaced nearly the entire population of the territory amid an ongoing blockade that has led to shortages of food, clean water and medicine. Israel is facing accusations of genocide over its actions in Gaza at the International Court of Justice.
Raids in Hebron
A pregnant Palestinian woman suffered a miscarriage after Israeli military forces raided her home in the West Bank city of Hebron, local media reported on Sunday.
Israeli forces raided several homes in southern Hebron and assaulted a Palestinian man and his wife, who suffered a miscarriage, the official Wafa news agency reported. The wife was rushed to hospital for medical treatment after the raid, Wafa said.
In a separate incident, Israeli settlers attacked Palestinians in several neighborhoods in Hebron’s Old City. Armed settlers staged a march on Saturday evening from the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron and vandalized a number of homes and property as they passed through several neighborhoods in Hebron’s Old City, according to Wafa.

Tensions continue to rise across the occupied West Bank amid a massive Israeli military offensive on Gaza that has killed nearly 41,200 people, mostly women and children, since October 7.
At least 703 people, including 159 children, have been killed and more than 5,700 others injured in Israeli attacks in the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
The escalation follows a landmark opinion by the International Court of Justice on July 19, which declared Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian land illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. (Ant/Z-2)
