The Palestinian Ministry of Health on Friday (23/8) announced plans to implement a massive polio vaccination campaign in the Gaza Strip which will begin at the end of August.
The campaign is a crucial step to tackle emerging polio cases in the region and prevent further spread of the deadly virus.
The initiative comes amid difficult conditions in Gaza, a territory long plagued by conflict and tension.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health stressed that the vaccination plan had been carefully prepared, including the formation of medical teams, the establishment of vaccination centers, and training carried out in collaboration with various international organizations such as UNRWA, WHO, UNICEF, and a number of local organizations.
The vaccination campaign is designed to reach all children under the age of 10 in Gaza, with implementation divided into two phases separated by a four-week interval.
This strategy is expected to be able to eradicate the spread of the polio virus in Gaza completely and overcome the existing outbreak.

According to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, around 1.6 million doses of the vaccine will be prepared to vaccinate more than 640,000 children in Gaza.
To date, the Ministry has established 400 vaccination centers ready for use.
Furthermore, the Palestinian Ministry of Health affirmed its commitment to making this vaccination campaign a success and urged international organizations to put pressure on the Israeli authorities to stop their aggression on Gaza.
This is considered important to enable the medical team to carry out vaccinations with a target achievement of more than 95 percent.
In addition, the Ministry also appealed to the people of Gaza to cooperate with the medical team by visiting the nearest vaccination centers, to help prevent further spread of the polio virus and contribute to efforts to eradicate the disease in the conflict-stricken region. (WAFA/ANT/Z-10)
