Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the attacks and killings in Palakkad were inhumane to human conscience. The killings were carried out at a time when Kerala was moving forward together to overcome the Kovid crisis and for the betterment and bright future of the country. There will be an uncompromising attitude on the part of the government once morest those responsible for these heinous acts which are done to the detriment of the good of the country. Strong legal action will be taken once morest them. The police have been instructed to do so.
No force will be allowed to destroy the brotherhood and peace in Kerala. We will hold the people together and stand firm once morest such attempts. Together we will move forward with one mind. The Kerala model of friendship and humanity will be preserved. The people are urged to identify and keep away from such forces which are disturbing the country with the poison of communalism and narrow-mindedness. The Chief Minister urged all to take action to maintain peace and harmony without succumbing to provocations and rumors.
Popular Front Elappully area secretary Kuppiyodu A. Zubair, 43, and former RSS district corporal Pramukh Moothanthara Arappath A. Srinivasan, 44, were killed. Zubair, who was returning from church with his father on a bike at 1.45 pm on Friday, was knocked down by a mob at Elappully Nompikottu.
Sreenivasan was hacked to death in a shop near Melamuri Junction in Palakkad at around 1 pm on Saturday during Zubair’s postmortem. Four people were taken into custody in Zubair’s murder.
