Pakistan’s first win after losing four T20Is against New Zealand

Pakistan defeated the Kiwis by 42 runs in the fifth match of the T20 series against New Zealand and secured their first victory in the five-match series. The New Zealand team had won the first series by four to zero.

In the match played in Christchurch on Sunday, the Pakistani team won the toss and batted first, but nothing changed and the poor performance of the Pakistani batting line continued as in the last four matches.

The team management added Haseebullah Khan to the team instead of opener Saeem Ayub, while Osama Mir and Sahibzada Farhan were also made a part of the team, but the performance of the Pakistani batsmen remained the same as in the previous matches.

Mohammad Rizwan scored 38 runs and Fakhar Zaman scored 33 runs. Haseebullah Khan scored zero, and Babar Azam scored 13 runs while Sahibzada Farhan scored 19 runs. Abbas Afridi scored 14 runs.

For New Zealand, Tim Southee, Ash Sodhi, Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson dismissed two players each. Pakistan team could score 134 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted overs.

When New Zealand’s innings started, Finn Allen, playing in his usual hot style, started scoring runs quickly, but wickets started to fall from the other side.

Finn Allen scored 22 runs while Tim Seifert scored 19 runs and Glenn Phillips scored 26 runs. Apart from him, none of the Kiwi batsmen could settle down and the entire Kiwi team was bowled out for 92 runs in 17.2 overs.

On behalf of Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz dismissed two while Iftikhar Ahmed dismissed three players. Iftikhar Ahmed was named the best player of the match.
