Pakistan has decided to end recent tensions with neighboring Iran and restore diplomatic relations. Immediately after the National Security Committee meeting, a federal cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar. The decisions of the National Security Committee were ratified in the cabinet meeting.

Sources said that caretaker foreign minister Jalil Abbas Jilani while briefing the cabinet said that Pakistan does not want tension with any neighbor while Iran also wants an end to the tense situation.

He said that Pakistan showed restraint and only responded to Iran’s wrong step.

The sources said that the cabinet decided to end the tension with Iran and restore diplomatic relations.

He said that the cabinet expressed its willingness to solve all the problems with Iran together, while mutual cooperation will be promoted to establish an atmosphere of trust.

It should be noted that after the recent events, there was a second telephonic contact between Pakistan’s Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani and his Iranian counterpart Amir Abdul Hayan.

In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Foreign Office, it was said that Jalil Abbas Jilani expressed Pakistan’s willingness to work on all issues based on the spirit of mutual trust and cooperation with Iran.

He emphasized the need for close cooperation between the two countries on security issues.

It should be noted that 2 innocent children were killed and 3 girls were injured as a result of an attack by Iran in Pakistan’s airspace on January 17.

Less than 48 hours after Iran violated its airspace, Pakistan launched an attack on terrorist hideouts in the Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchistan in the early hours of January 18, killing several terrorists.
