Apparently, the life of the residents of this village seems to be normal and simple, but looking at the big houses and the financial prosperity of the people here, there is definitely a glimpse that they are related to Britain in one way or another.
Zulfiqar Ali Khan’s grandfather went to Britain in 1940 for better employment and now his fourth generation lives there. He told Independent Urdu that he was born in Sparkbrook, a Muslim-majority area of Birmingham. ‘I was the third generation of my family to live in the UK and now my three children (fourth generation) are also living there.’
Zulfikar Ali says that he has been living in his village for a few years now, but visits Britain three to four times a year.
“The Muslim voter there is very active, the English (election campaign) asks (the candidate) regarding housing, unemployment, schools and hospitals, but the Muslim Pakistani voter is only interested in Palestine.”

Zulfiqar Ali says that he has closely watched the past four or five UK elections but this time the situation is different because of Israel’s attacks on Palestine and in these situations the Muslim community is mobilized and united on the issue.
People living in the UK have played an important role in providing health, water and education facilities in this village and with their support, a welfare organization called ‘Ajala’ is also working in the area.
Javed Akhtar of Ghorghashti village lived in UK for 11 years. He said that 70 percent of his family members are still living there.
“Our village has a population of 75,000 and every second house has someone living in the UK,” Javed said, referring to the village’s name as ‘Money England’.
He said that that is why when elections are held in Britain, people here are interested in them.

According to Javed: ‘Our people have always been interested (in British elections). This time the situation of Palestine is such a case that the community is very active that those who ask for the right of Palestine or raise voice for the improvement of Palestine, they stand with them in a very good way.
Local journalist Nisar Khan said that the people of this village are interested in the UK elections because ‘their loved ones live there and their hearts beat together.’
Miskeen Shah was also born in the UK, and most of his immediate family members are based in the UK. In the last two years, he has spent most of his time in Ghorghashti village, where he takes care of the land and dairy farming, but he is constantly in and out of the UK.
Muskeen Shah says that since many people from this village are in the UK, whenever the government there makes changes related to visas and financial matters, it has an impact here as well. ‘There then, what changes in the (economic situation) then it has an impact on our lives as well. Cultural colors from here have gone there and things from there are coming here.’
He said that therefore the people of Ghorghashti village have always been interested in the British elections and the situation there.
