The death toll in an accident involving a bus of Pakistani pilgrims in Iran has increased to 35, while several people have also been injured.
The Foreign Office has expressed its condolences to the families of the victims of the accident that befell pilgrims in Iran.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the spokesperson of the Foreign Office said that ‘on the instructions of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister, the responsibility of the Consulate of Pakistan in Zahedan has been assigned to reach the accident site and find out the ground situation.’
According to the statement, “They will also coordinate with the local authorities to provide medical aid to the injured and arrange for the repatriation of the dead bodies to Pakistan.”
According to the spokesman, most of the victims are residents of Sindh province.
The statement added: ‘The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has activated its Crisis Management Unit to assist in these efforts and to facilitate the repatriation of remains.’

According to Reuters, the Pakistani pilgrims were on their way to Iraq via Iran, where they were supposed to participate in Arbaeen.
