Pakistan women win World Cup for the first time in 13 years

Pakistan women’s cricket World Cup victory for the first time in 13 years. Pakistan defeated West Indies by eight wickets. The West Indies were bowled out for 89 in seven overs as the match was reduced to 20 overs due to rain. Chasing a target of 90, Pakistan won by two wickets with seven balls to spare.

The West Indies batsmen were bowled out by Pakistan spinners. For Pakistan, Nida Dar took four wickets for just 10 runs. Five West Indies batsmen were bowled out for two in 20 overs. Muneeba Ali (37), Omaima Suhail (22) and skipper Bisma Ma’roof (20) were the top scorers for Pakistan.

Pakistan last won a match at the Women’s World Cup in 2009. Even then, the West Indies were conquered by Pakistani women. In the four subsequent World Cups, Pakistan have not won a single match. Pakistan have lost 18 consecutive matches.
