Theater groups from different countries performed on the second day of ‘Pakistan Theater Festival 2023’ at Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi on Saturday.
The festival, which started on Friday evening, was inaugurated by director and actor Salman Shahid’s theater ‘Patriot and Abdullah’.
According to the schedule, today the American theater group ‘Uplift’ will perform their play ‘Through the Waves’ while on Sunday the Sri Lankan dance group ‘Kanya Raks’ will perform.
Theater groups from America, Germany, Turkey, Iran and Sri Lanka are participating in the festival.
Arts Council Karachi President Ahmed Shah said, ‘This is the first of its kind in Pakistan and the biggest theater festival in the country’s history, in which theater groups from all over the world are participating. Therefore, it can also be called the International Theater Festival.’

The festival will run from September 8 to October 8, during which 29 local plays will be performed, as well as workshops and discussions.
Ahmad Shah added: ‘Through this festival we are doing cultural diplomacy which will help in improving the image of Pakistan.
‘Artists from around the world come here and learn from local artists and our artists learn from artists from other countries.’
During the festival, theaters will be held in different languages including English, German, Urdu, Sinhalese, Sindhi languages.
