Pakistan team director Mickey Arthur arrives in India: PCB

Mickey Arthur was appointed team director by the PCB in April this year and is available to the squad on a limited basis due to his contract with Derbyshire.

The team director, who hails from South Africa, was not with the Pakistan team during the series against Sri Lanka in July and was also unavailable during Pakistan’s series against Afghanistan in August.

In last month’s Asia Cup, Mickey Arthur joined the team for only one match.

Under the leadership of captain Babar Azam, the Pakistan cricket team reached India on September 25 to participate in the 50-over World Cup starting from October 5.

Pakistan will start their regular World Cup tour against Netherlands on October 6, followed by Sri Lanka on October 10 and India on October 14.

Earlier, Pakistan played a warm-up match against New Zealand in which they lost. Pakistan will play its second and final warm-up match against Australia on October 3.

Mickey Arthur was Pakistan’s head coach from 2016 to 2019, during which the Green Shirts won the Champions Trophy title in 2017 and were also ranked number one in the international T20 rankings.

However, Pakistan’s performance in Test cricket in Mickey Arthur’s presence was not affected and due to their exit from the 2019 World Cup in the league stage, he was replaced by former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq as the head coach.
