The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the squad for the Asia Cup and ODI series against Afghanistan this month.
Chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq on Wednesday announced the 17-member Pakistan cricket squad for the Asia Cup and 18-member Pakistan cricket squad for the ODI series against Afghanistan. Babar Azam will lead the team while two wicketkeeper-batsmen Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Haris have been included in the squad.
Two changes have been made in the squad that will play against New Zealand this year. Tayyab Tahir and Faheem Ashraf have been included in the squad in place of Shan Masood and Ehsanullah.
Apart from this, Saud Shakeel, who recently performed well in the Test series against Sri Lanka, has been included in the squad only for the series against Afghanistan.

Faheem Ashraf has returned to the national team after two years. He last played an ODI series against England in July 2021.
Similarly, Tayyab Tahir has been included in the ODI squad for the second time. He was earlier included in the squad for the ODI series against New Zealand in January this year.

According to the Pakistan Cricket Board, Shan Masood has not been able to retain his place due to not performing well, while Ehsanullah is engaged in a rehab program for his elbow under the supervision of the PCB’s medical panel.
The Asia Cup 2023 will begin with the match between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan on August 30, while before that, the Pakistani cricket team will play a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in Sri Lanka from August 22.
