On February 5, a bomb exploded in the city of Quetta in Balochistan province, southwestern Pakistan, injuring at least five people.
Local police said the explosion happened near a checkpoint in a heavily monitored area in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province.
Police and rescue forces were deployed to the scene of the explosion and taken the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment. Among the injured, 1 person is in the hospital critical condition.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and started searching for the perpetrators. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
The Pakistani branch of the Taliban operates as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has admitted being behind the incident.
Last week, Pakistan was rocked by a suicide bombing at a mosque in the city of Peshawar that killed 101 people. The mosque is located in a complex that houses the provincial police headquarters and an anti-terror police unit of Peshawar, one of the city’s most heavily controlled areas.
Investigators from Pakistan’s intelligence services and counter-terrorism agencies are focusing their investigation to determine how the attacker broke through the tight security barrier.
