Pakistan condemns the attack on former US President Trump

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have condemned the attack on former US President Donald Trump on Sunday.

Former US President and Republican candidate Trump was injured in an assassination attempt during an election rally in the state of Pennsylvania on Saturday.

The man who attacked them was killed by US security forces, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

According to the official news agency Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), President Asif Zardari said that he was deeply shocked following hearing regarding the attack.

He said that there is no place for violence in politics. He expressed good wishes for Trump and prayed for his speedy recovery.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack on Trump and expressed deep regret.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing, the Prime Minister prayed for the speedy recovery of the former US President and others injured in the attack.

Shahbaz Sharif said that ‘any kind of violence in the political process is condemnable. Our sympathies and best wishes go out to Donald Trump’s family at this difficult time.’

According to the US Secret Service, Trump was “fired from a high point outside the rally site towards the stage”.

The Secret Service said in a statement that one person was killed in the shooting incident, two others were seriously injured and the attacker was killed.

Videos and photos from the time of the incident show Donald Trump’s face covered in blood as he was led off the stage following the shooting. He was shifted to hospital and discharged following medical treatment.

A special official of the Federal Investigation Agency (FBI) confirmed in a press conference that Saturday’s shooting of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was a ‘murderous attack’.

Special Agent Kevin Rojack told reporters in Butler County, Pennsylvania: ‘This evening there was what we are calling an assassination attempt once morest our former president, Donald Trump.’

The FBI later identified the attacker as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old resident of Bethel Park.

The Washington Post, citing state voters’ status records, said the attackers were “registered Republicans.”

The reaction of world leaders following the shooting incident at Trump

In an emergency press briefing at Rehoboth Beach in Delaware following the assassination of his rival in the presidential election, Donald Trump, US President Joe Biden told reporters that there is no room for this kind of violence in America. ‘We need to unite this country.’

“Political violence, or violence like this, is unheard of in America,” Biden added. It is not appropriate. Everyone, everyone should condemn it.’

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said in a statement on Sunday that he and his wife Sara were shocked by the attack on Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

He wrote on social media platform X: ‘We pray for his safety and speedy recovery.’

Former US President Barack Obama said following the attack on Trump that ‘political violence has absolutely no place in our democracy.’

Japanese Prime Minister Fumo Kushida has spoken out once morest political violence following the assassination of former US President Donald Trump.

He wrote on social media platform X that ‘We must stand firm once morest any kind of violence that challenges democracy. I pray for the speedy recovery of former President Trump.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said political violence is ‘never acceptable.’

Justin Trudeau wrote on social media platform X: ‘I am deeply saddened to hear of the firing of former President Trump. It cannot be overstated — political violence is never acceptable. My prayers are with former President Trump, those at the rally and all Americans.’

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on Sunday that he was “stunned by the horrific scenes” of the shooting of former US President Donald Trump at a campaign rally.

He wrote on social media platform X: ‘Political violence in any form has no place in our societies and my sympathies go out to all the victims of this attack.’

Donald Trump is not the only American political figure to have been assassinated. Earlier, US President John F. Kennedy was assassinated while riding in his car in 1963 and his brother Bobby Kennedy was shot dead in 1968.

Former US President Ronald Reagan was also narrowly missed in an assassination attempt in 1981.
