Pakistan captain apologizes for first Test loss to Bangladesh

Pakistan Test team captain Shan Masood has apologized to the nation for losing the first Test match against Bangladesh on Sunday.

In the first test match played between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan for the first time in Test cricket.

On the fifth day of the match, the Pakistani team scored 146 runs and gave Bangladesh a target of only 30 runs to win, which Bangladesh achieved without losing any wicket.

Mushfiqur Rahim of Bangladesh was named the best player of the match.

On the fifth day, Pakistan’s innings started with the fall of captain Shan Masood’s wicket, after which Babar Azam along with Abdullah Shafiq took the innings forward.

Babar Azam was lucky to start his innings when his catch was dropped by the Bangladesh wicketkeeper.

Despite this chance, Babar Azam failed to play a long innings and went on to score 22 runs. Vice-captain Saud Shakeel and Agha Salman returned without scoring any runs.

Muhammad Rizwan was the top scorer for Pakistan with 51 runs.

In the first innings of the match, Pakistan declared the innings by scoring 448 runs for the loss of six wickets, in response, the Bangladesh team scored 565 runs.

Earlier, Bangladesh lost 12 out of 13 Test matches against Pakistan and managed to draw only one match.

Pakistan captain’s apology

Talking to the media after the match on Sunday, Shan Masood has further said that the nation was disappointed by the defeat in the first Test match against Bangladesh, for which we are sorry.

‘Bangladesh played good cricket and won the match, they will come back in the next match and give happiness to the nation.’

He said that ‘in the first innings, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehdi Hasan Miraz were given chances, there were a lot of mistakes in the fielding and there were some spells in which a lot of runs were scored.’

Shaan Masood said that the wicket was favorable for the fast bowlers on the first four days and the spinners got help on the fifth day. Take the field with a fast attack keeping in mind the green pitch.

He said that ‘Bangladesh team should be given credit, they have performed well in all areas of the game.’

In response to a question, he said that ‘keeping the weather situation in mind, the first innings was declared early because there was a lot of rain in Rawalpindi before the match and there were chances of rain during the match as well.’

The second Test of the series will be played on August 30 at the same stadium that was earlier scheduled in Karachi as the construction work at the National Bank Stadium is going on day and night in connection with the preparations for the Champions Trophy.
