In Pakistan, more than 20 people were killed on the way to a popular ski resort. In the region around the small Pakistani town of Murree, authorities said they, like hundreds of other holidaymakers, got stuck with their cars in the snow. They were surprised by heavy snowfall. More than 120 centimeters of snow fell. Thousands of vehicles got stuck at an altitude of 2300 meters, temperatures dropped to minus nine degrees Celsius. At least six people have frozen to death in their cars. The police suspect that the other victims suffocated from exhaust fumes. According to the Ministry of the Interior, many visitors from abroad have been accommodated in Murree, a place popular with tourists. Emergency camps were set up for them.
