Karachi: The government has announced that Imran Khan is no longer the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The notification was issued by the Additional Secretary in the Pakistan Cabinet Secretariat on behalf of the government. The decision was taken by the Parliamentary Affairs Ministry in the wake of the dissolution of the National Assembly. This was revealed by Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir. The statement also said that Imran Khan has been removed from the post of Prime Minister.

Earlier, Pakistani President Arif Ali Zardari dismissed parliament and the cabinet on the recommendation of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The move comes following the Pakistan National Assembly rejected a no-confidence vote once morest Imran. The Deputy Speaker was not allowed to vote. Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Khazuri said the no-confidence motion was unconstitutional.

Voting will not be allowed until April 25. The Deputy Speaker said that the decision was taken in the interest of national security. According to Pakistani media reports, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has voluntarily filed a case in connection with the dissolution of the National Assembly.
