Pair of Mountcastle home runs lift Orioles to victory

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Ryan Mountcastle hit two-run homers in consecutive innings and added five RBIs as the Baltimore Orioles beat the Kansas City Royals 11-7 on Tuesday night.

Adley Rutschman had four hits and drove in a run for the raging Orioles.

Tyler Wells (2-1) allowed three hits in six innings, but they were all home runs: Bobby Witt Jr.’s opener with a shot, a two-run home run by Puerto Rican MJ Meléndez and a solo shot by Venezuelan Salvador Pérez .

In addition, Wells gave away three tickets and prescribed four strikeouts.

Pérez, who added a two-run homer in the seventh inning, left in the eighth when Anthony Santander’s bat caught the catcher’s glove.
