This Monday, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López led a meeting with the Carter Center delegation that will accompany the development of the presidential elections of July 28.

In social networksthe official highlighted the “prestige gained” by the Carter Center and its observer mission. He also said that their “seriousness” earned them the invitation from the National Electoral Council.

A month ago, the group confirmed that it would be present in Venezuela to accompany the electoral process, led by Jennie Lincoln.

The NGO is not expected to carry out a comprehensive evaluation of the vote: “The mission’s assessments will be based on the national legal framework, as well as regional and international human rights obligations and standards for democratic elections.”the group detailed in a press release.

Regarding the presidential candidates who have met with members of the Carter Center, they appear Javier Bertucci, Benjamin Rausseo, Edmund Gonzalez Urrutia, and Antonio Ecarri.

This will not be the group’s first appearance in elections held in the country, with the 2021 regional elections being the latest process to which they have joined. Overall, the NGO has carried out 124 missions in 40 countries over the last few years.
