Paco Forastieri: Remembering a Sports Journalism Legend in Mexico

The world of sports journalism in Mexico is in mourning following the death of Paco Forastieri, one of the most recognized voices of Televisa Deportes in the 80’s and 90’s, was announced.

Through a statement on social networks, the Carlos Septién Gracia School of Journalism reported the sad news that immediately had an impact on several of its former colleagues.

Among those ruled out was Daniel Rentería, who through his social networks shared an emotional message for his friend on the small screen.

“Sadly I learn of the death of Francisco Forastieri, a good friend, coworker for many years at TD. My ‘Foras’ I will remember you as a fun, witty, capable and professional sports journalist. Light on your path, dear Paco. Rest in Peace,” wrote Renteria.

Forastieri was trained at the Carlos Septién García School of Journalism, the institution where he met María Matilde Obregón.

In 1985 he joined Televisa, where he worked alongside Abraham Zabludovsky. In his career in the media, the coverage of the World Cups in Mexico 86, Italy 90, United States 94, Korea-Japan 2002, Germany 2006 stands out. and South Africa 2010.

He had two sons, Diego and Paco, who died this year at the age of 29, following a fireworks incident in Valle de Bravo.
