Der Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers said he plans to play Sunday’s game once morest the Chicago Bears despite a rib injury sustained in Week 12.
“We’re not eliminated, (and) I got good news yesterday with the scans, so I’m planning on playing this week,” Rodgers said in the “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday.
In Sunday’s 40-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Rodgers left the game in the third quarter and did not return. The Packers announced it was a rib injury, and Rodgers added that he wants to continue playing this season “as long as we’re alive, mathematically speaking.”
“There was an earlier hit in the game that kind of shook the rib cage and I tried to stretch a bit at halftime and realized it probably wasn’t a muscle injury,” Rodgers said. “And then it hit me once more in the third quarter. I found it difficult to breathe.”
Quarterback Jordan Love replaced Rodgers in that game.
The Packers visit the Bears in Week 13, trying to end their two-game slide. With a 4-8 record, Green Bay sits third in the NFC North, ahead of Chicago.
“We’re not eliminated yet,” Rodgers said. “We’ve got a chance to play the last five games and see where we’re at following that.”
He added: “(Whether) we’re 8-4, 4-8, 12-0 or 0-12, I would want to play this week. And not just because it’s Chicago, but because that’s what you do. If you’re a player, you go out there, and if you can play, you play.”
Rodgers has thrown 64.8% of his passes for 2,682 yards and 21 touchdowns with nine interceptions in 12 games this season.
