MINISTER of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo wants the national training camp (pelatnas) of the All Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PABSI) to be carried out in the long term leading up to the 2028 Olympics.
“God willing, because yesterday at Paris 2024 PABSI has proven, I think in the future we will make this national training (towards) the 2028 Olympics long term,” said Dito.
Dito ensured that he would continue to support the athlete development carried out by PB PABSI. One of the supports, he said, is by presenting the Cibubur Youth Elite Sport Center sports facility which will also be used by the weightlifting branch.

The facility being built in Cibubur, East Jakarta, is targeted to be operational by the end of 2024 so that it can be used by PB PABSI to conduct national training.
“This facility is already world standard, and if there are deficiencies, they can still be added,” he said.
With this new facility, Dito hopes that weightlifting can maintain or even add to its achievements on the world stage.

Furthermore, Dito appreciated PB PABSI which, apart from making history by donating a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics through athlete Rizki Juniansyah, still fulfills its organizational obligations by holding national deliberations.
Dito admitted that he was happy to see the transformation of PB PABSI led by Rosan Perkasa Roeslani and hoped that this sport could continue the comprehensive regeneration of athletes in Indonesia.
“We really need regeneration, from Eko Yuli, from Rizki, Rahmat, and others. Because we really hope that at the 2028 Olympics, PABSI will donate another gold medal,” he said.

Dito also requested that through the National Conference, PABSI formulate and prepare a road map towards the 2028 Olympics so that what is targeted can be achieved.
“Prepare in terms of coaching and scouting, to the needs of sports science, national training and everything,” he said.
He hopes that at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, United States, Indonesian weightlifters will make history again by achieving brilliant achievements on the world stage. (Ant/Z-6)
