2023-09-20 13:30:00

Saturday October 14th Pablo Oliva meets the Argentine public once more because he will do a show in Backroom (Balcarce 460, CABA). And I say reunion because even though he goes back and forth between his home for eight years, El Edén, in Uruguay, a place where he found the tranquility to compose and which brought him closer to his maternal family: “I have relatives on my mother’s side and my whole life was divided between being there and in Argentina. My mother’s side is of French descent, my grandmother is Russian and my grandfather, a Vietnamese classical orchestra conductor. Even an uncle was musician and another looks very good. I have a very great connection with them because of their artistic streak. So when I might I moved to this town in the mountains that is between Maldonado and Lavalleja. A beautiful place. What’s more, I have two children who are practically “Uruguayans. It is a very nice place to live and compose songs.”Explain.
And there the recording studio was set up, as he says in this video interview:

He singer of the band Gazpacho, together with the musician and producer Facundo Pereyra Iraola (bassist of that band) shaped Pablo’s first fully realized solo album “Ala Distancia”, according to the name he gave it. The album featured the participation of a true dream team of prestigious international musicians: Manu Katche, Michael League, Lionel Holloman, Thomas Salcedo, Justin Brown and Burniss Travis, among the most prominent. Each of them musicians, as Pablo tells it, did it from his house or studio in full confinement during 2020 and 2021. And for rehearsals with his band, made up of Emma Cauvet on battery, Fede Palmolella in low, Guido Briscioli and Gastón Saya on guitars, Cristian Vivaldi on keyboards and Agostina Bruno in the choruses, they bridge the gap using “a program to which we all connect at the same time and that allows us to rehearse in real time, each one in their place. Likewise, when I go to Argentina we meet face to face and the enjoyment is total.”, adds Pablo. and it is very important

Live Profile: Do you enjoy this solo part of your career?
Pablo Oliva: A lot, the truth is. I have a very nice band that supports me and the ones I’ve been with for a while, we are seven musicians, it’s a bandón. Emma, who was Cerati’s last drummer, produced two new songs for me that will be released before the show at La Trastienda and I am very excited; I enjoy very much. I already have three solo albums and for him concert I will present the union of all those songs that were coming and I will also carry songs from the Gazpacho repertoire that I composed and that are very mine. With all that mix of life that has flowed through me as an artist, I will present myself on the 14th.
VP: Did the lyrics of your songs evolve?
AFTER: Yes, they were changing, mainly because I never look to copy myself or see what sounds like at the moment. When I write a song it’s what comes out of me. The human being evolves, going through different moments, and that is what comes out when I write. I just showed those last two songs to a producer and he told me: “As you always surprise and go the other way”. In reality, I am always somewhere else, I am older and going through things like every human being. There is an evolution there, like the person himself.
The show is announced for 8:30 p.m. and here you can find more information regarding tickets.
