Pablo López Dominates with 7 Innings, 1 Run Allowed: Overcoming Adversity Against Kansas City Royals

Pablo López added his first victory of the season with a great outing of 7.0 innings and only one run allowed, the product of a solo home run by Maikel García in the first episode.

López did not fall into despair and was able to get the next scoreless innings and strike out seven batters.

The Venezuelan explained how he managed to overcome that home run and become dominant again against the Kansas City Royals.

“The anxiety went up a little bit with that home run. But I had a great support system in receiver Ryan Jeffers. “He gives you the mental cues or gestures to keep you in the moment and keep you encouraged,” Lopez said.

The Doctor commented that he was very anxious and there were many emotions in that first duel against Maikel García in the first inning. García hit the home run on the third pitch he saw from Pablo López.

“I was very anxious. There were a lot of emotions in that first at-bat,” Lopez said. “You always want to get first. You always want everything to go well. It didn’t.”

Twins manager affirms that the idea was not to let Pablo López go for so long

Pablo ended up throwing 84 pitches and seven innings. Something that manager Rocco Baldelli had not thought of since it is the first start.

“I wanted to hear what he had to say. It’s very competitive, but I think it would also give me at least a modicum of honesty. If he were there, he would tell me. And he said: ‘I feel great,’ ”said the leader.

“The plan wasn’t for him to go seven innings, even if he was relatively efficient. But he was very efficient,” he said.
