Sindhu’s win was in straight games. Score: 21-19, 21-12. Sindhu also defeated world number seven Gregoria Mariska Tungjung of Indonesia in the pre-quarters. With advancing to the semi-finals, Sindhu is sure to return to the top 10 in the world rankings.
Sindhu’s opponent in the semis is Denmark’s Caroline Marin. Marin defeated Taipei’s Tai Too Ying. Score: 19-21, 21-15, 21-18. Sindhu had lost all the last four matches against Marin. Sindhu last defeated Marin five years ago.
