Designer and founder Peter Lunvald Nielsen has come up with a classic runway show with outstanding designs for the Spring Summer 2024 show of his young label PLN during CPHFW SS24. These combine different subcultures and aesthetics and are therefore very different from the many labels that reflect the Nordic look that is particularly typical of Copenhagen. The show takes place in the Nikolaj Kunsthal Church in the heart of Copenhagen.
interpretation and individualism
As part of the CPHFW NEWTALENT support program, he presented the collection of the young fashion brand PLN and once more left a lasting impression. Typical for the label we see traits of ancient religious aesthetics, but also wild gothic and punk culture, whereby it is also clear that PLN is breaking new ground. The SS24 collection actually offers a lot of room for interpretation and shows that the individual items of clothing should also be worn individually. With obscure silhouettes and unusual cuts, they are considered rather bold fashion. PLN expresses that a perceived reality emerges from one interpretation, which becomes another through the lens of the next person. The collection thus appeals to a wide target group, but in particular reflects the younger generation’s desire for individuality.
PLN breaks norms
As the third and final show in the NEWTALENT program, the show concludes the trilogy of shows presented during CPHFW and generated high expectations. As already mentioned, the outstanding collection includes crazy silhouettes. A coat with a classic cut already fits on the head and the sleeves start at the ears or shoulder pads take on a new dimension and are reminiscent of balls. A puffer coat is also worn completely backwards. PLN also plays with material mixes, so from leather, jeans, fur to cotton and acetate, almost everything is included and in a wide variety of forms. Locally grown organic and renewable materials such as organic cotton and renewable acetate have been used in this collection to minimize impact on the environment. Because although the collection appears rather gloomy and in dark earth tones at first glance, bright pink, metallic silver and exciting prints are striking. The show guests were impressed by the grand finale, because those who look at the SS24 collection will not get bored.
