BERGEN OP ZOOM – Restaurant SAUS Aan ‘t Water has been caught in a storm of criticism after the owner responded to a negative Google review. The owner responded inappropriately and antisocially to a disappointed review from a customer, Vivian K., and has gone viral on the platform. Dumpert: “What a stupid, rude farmer.”

Vivian K. visited the restaurant on the Bergse Plaat and decided to express her disappointment in a Google review. According to her, the price-quality ratio is not right: “Really incredibly expensive restaurant. For a portion of mini pancakes (not freshly baked, but ready-made from the microwave) you pay €10,-. For a small cup of mushroom soup €9.50 and for a bit of bread you also pay extra. Price/quality ratio is definitely not in balance.”
The owner of SAUS clearly disagreed with her criticism and showed this in a response that raised many eyebrows. He wrote: “Dear Vivian, thank you very much for your extensive review…. We received you on this day as a voluminous, Burgundian woman on our hip sexy terrace where you also wanted to shine for once, and you were amazed by all the hip ladies, well dressed with beautiful tanned men around you, and I understand that you were a bit anxious, in your review you used the word “small” and the word “little” because, and that was also clearly noticeable, you are used to somewhat larger portions and plates in the all you can eat formula, where you are present approximately 3 times a week… but dear Vivian that is not sexy and hip.. The bread and the CREAM soup apart from the mini pancakes, of course, are also on the rise… just take care of yourself and you will be fine in a year or 2. By the way, there is nothing wrong with being a little overweight… these are usually fun people… perhaps you were in a gluttonous and sour moment… and that should be possible, these are often the symptoms of obesity…… and we give you the space for that. Vivian rated the restaurant 2 out of 5 stars for food and service, and 3 out of 5 stars for atmosphere. After the owner’s response, that rating has probably dropped even further.
On Dumpert, the owner’s response led to a flood of indignant responses. Dumpert users called the response “scandalous,” “stupid,” and “rude.” In addition to the annoyance over the many typos in the message, many could not understand how the owner could post such a response. “This is just hopeless,” someone responded. Another called the owner a “stupid rude farmer.”
The incident has certainly damaged the image of restaurant SAUS Aan ‘t Water. Whether this will also damage the image of the owner remains to be seen.
