ÖVP-U-Committee: Marchetti replaces Stocker – news.ORF.at

ÖVP General Secretary Christian Stocker is no longer part of the ÖVP parliamentary group in the current ÖVP corruption investigation committee. According to a list by Parliament, Mandator Nico Marchetti will take Stocker’s place.

The former head of the Young ÖVP in Vienna is the second change within the ÖVP team. Previously, Rudolf Taschner had replaced his party colleague Kurt Egger. The latter is Secretary General of the ÖVP Economic Association and has also been media spokesman for the ÖVP club for a few months.

It was already expected that Stocker would leave the U-Committee. A few weeks ago he took over the post of Secretary General from Laura Sachslehner and should now concentrate more on his new role. The Viennese member of the state parliament resigned from this position following a dispute regarding the climate bonus for asylum seekers – she was once morest the solution, although it was co-decided by the ÖVP.

Stocker led the ÖVP parliamentary group together with Andreas Hanger in the U-Committee. The two attracted attention because they repeatedly called for the rules of procedure because they considered questions from the other groups to be inadmissible. Now Hanger should remain the sole leader of the group.

The U-Committee should end its surveys at the beginning of December. To the surprise of the SPÖ and FPÖ, NEOS, which is part of the minority, announced that it would not agree to a four-month extension.
