Overwatch League: change on the Boston Uprising side!

The Boston Uprising aren’t at their best for this Overwatch League season. Placing itself at the bottom of the ranking alongside the Vancouver Titans and the Paris Eternal, the slope seems complicated to climb. And as if this situation weren’t enough, two sad news have recently been announced by the team: the two veteran players, Marve1 and Striker, are leaving the team.

Both are important players in the competition and the Boston Uprising felt they had no choice but to cut ties with these two players.

Striker, a foreseeable departure?

Kwon ‘Striker’ Nam-joo is a well-known player in the Overwatch League, especially for the work he was able to provide with his Tracer in 2020 with the San Francisco Shock. He was counted as one of the best players in the Boston Uprising, but the current situation of the team clearly did not allow Striker to make the most of his skills. It’s a pretty amazing announcement, because Striker was one of the best acquisitions the Bostons might have. Still, Chirs HuK Loranger announced on Twitter that the team wasn’t the right one for Striker.

The news might almost be predicted, because the change in the composition of the team during the match once morest the Toronto Defiant on May 21 put the flea in the ear of the community. Striker, a player who no longer has anything to prove, finds himself on the sidelines to make way for Victoria.

Marvel1, a need to go back to basics

There is also Marvel1 who unfortunately announces his departure. The situation is not the same as that of Striker, but it is not charming either. Indeed, according to statements sent by the team, Marve1 was not feeling well due to personal issues. Being in full competition and especially far from his country, the latter might not bring himself to continue the competition. That’s why, with a mutual agreement, Marve1 leaves the team to focus on his personal growth.

The Boston Uprising therefore offers a roster composed of 7 players and the team will follow the course of the competition normally. The departure of these two players is surprising, but Striker will undoubtedly find a team at his level and perhaps Marve1 can finally refocus on themselves in order to come back in a new light. To replace Striker, it is without much surprise Gi-hun ‘Victoria’ Oh who will take the place of the former veteran DPS. Regarding Marve1, Layton ‘Punk’ Gilchrist and Chang-hee ‘ITSAL’ will take over.

The competition resumes this Thursday, May 26 at noon with the opening match the Philadelphia Fusion once morest the Seoul Dynasty.
