Overwatch 2: Battle for Olympus – that’s in the new mode!

Blizzard Entertainment is giving its current online action game Overwatch 2 a fresh game mode to start the new year. We’ll tell you here what you can expect in “Battle for Olympus”.

From now on you are in Overwatch 2 a new game mode available – at least temporarily. You can play the “Battle for Olympus” mode, which is available for a limited time, until January 19, 2023. This is an FFA deathmatch pitting heroes with the powers of Greek gods, goddesses, and creatures once morest each other.

In the new mode, seven heroes receive special powers when they activate their divine ultimates. Specifically, it looks like this:

Ramattra als Poseidon
Divine Annihilation

  • Ravenous Vortex is a large vortex that pulls enemies in and then hurls them into the air.
  • Overwhelm unleashes large bursts of water that deal more damage and have longer range.

Junker Queen as Zeus
Divine rampage

  • Lasts 20 seconds.
  • Damage dealt by the Bolt Action Rifle has a chance to grant bonus lightning damage to its abilities.

Reinhardt as Minotaur
Divine Quake

  • Lasts 20 seconds.
  • Heals when he charges an enemy and knocks them into a wall.
  • The charge can lock up to 3 targets at once.
  • Charge cooldown reduced to 3 seconds.
  • Hitting a wall deals lethal damage, prolongs Divine Might, and reduces Onslaught’s next cooldown to 0.5 seconds.

Roadhog as Zyklop
Divine meat grinder

  • Lasts 15 seconds.
  • Make yourself much larger and you gain 600 hit points.
  • Instead of the ultimate’s normal fire mode, you throw rocks that deal high damage.
  • The melee attack deals 5x damage and knocks back enemies.

Pharaoh as Hades
Divine barrage

  • Lasts 20 seconds.
  • You can move during the ultimate ability.
  • The rocket launcher fires three-headed rockets.
  • VTOL fuel consumption is greatly reduced.
  • Kills heal Pharah and extend the duration of this effect.

Widowmaker as Medusa
Divine Infrasight

  • While in sniper mode, enemies looking at you will be turned to stone.

Lucius to the Hermes
Divine sound barrier

  • Lasts 20 seconds.
  • Lúcio can always jump once more following bouncing off a wall.
  • The sound wave can always knock enemies into walls, dealing additional damage and briefly stunning them.
  • Attack and movement speed are greatly increased.
  • Unlimited Ammo.

The hero with the most kills during the event period will be commemorated with a statue on the Ruins of Ilios arena map to commemorate their victory. During the event, you can also complete special challenges to earn free rewards. You can unlock spells and player titles – and work towards the legendary skin Goddess of Victory for Mercy.
