Overtaking Jakarta, West Java Leads 2024 PON Medal Standings

THE fight for the 2024 PON overall championship title is heating up after West Java succeeded in displacing Jakarta from the top of the medal standings.

As of Wednesday (18/9) at 20.45 WIB, West Java had 390 medals, consisting of 138 gold, 129 silver and 123 bronze.

The branches that are the medal barn for West Java are aquatics (swimming), weightlifting, athletics, billiards, canoeing, judo, muaythai, pencak silat, rowing, diving, and taekwondo.

Meanwhile, West Java won the most gold from canoeing (9), rowing (9), taekwondo (8), and traditional boat race (6).

Jakarta is in second place with a total of 362 medals. They won 136 golds in the four-yearly event, plus 115 silvers and 111 bronzes.

Jakarta is followed by East Java with 329 medals and 107 of them are gold. Then the other 109 medals are silver and 113 bronze.

Meanwhile, the host is still in the top five. North Sumatra is in fourth place with 66 gold, 35 silver, and 81 bronze. Meanwhile, Aceh is in fifth place with 52 gold, 39 silver, and 47 bronze. (Z-6)
