This Saturday, in the middle of a Grupo Firme concert at the Potosina National Fair, Eduin Caz revealed to his fans that he had cancer: “Do you see these five scars? It is the perfect night to explain my surgery to them”, the vocalist began to say on stage.
At the age of 29, Eduin Caz achieved fame, even his band broke the attendance record at a concert in the Zócalo in Mexico City.
However, in recent months he has faced the separation from his wife, rumors about his retirement and, especially, at the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023 he also had health complications that have taken him to the hospital and postponed concerts, which now revealed that it was due to a poorly cared for hiatal hernia, which turned into cancer:
“It’s the only time I’m going to say it, it’s the reason why I already want to go to hell… A hiatal hernia is getting more complicated, it worked for me, that becomes Barrett’s esophagus and that is it makes cancer.”
His brother Jhonny Caz stood by his side to encourage him, while Eduin added: “Just like you stayed, on November 4, I stayed like that, cold, I said ‘he loaded my dick, just the same, but I consulted the best doctors, I had surgery and here we are”.
From the stage, he thanked his doctors, “Moi” and Ponce de León, he also mentioned that he is fine now and did not want to say it before so as not to cause pity: “I never said it because I don’t like to be seen as ‘poor thing’, but I I just did a study and I’m embarrassed, so we have to enjoy ourselves, we have to wake up”.

What illnesses was Eduin Caz diagnosed with?
Regarding Eduin Caz’s health, it was known that he had chronic sinusitis and a hiatal hernia, which he now commented was complicated by Barrett’s esophagus, which led to esophageal cancer.

At the beginning of May 2022, Eduin Caz was hospitalized in an emergency after giving a concert at the Foro Sol.
Days later, through Instagram, the Mexican regional musician mentioned that the cause was a problem that had been dragging on for a long time: a hiatal hernia, which was complicated by high alcohol consumption, first because he was stressed, then because he was happy.
“Before the show I injected myself for stomach pain and I took it, but now I took it for joy because I was having a hard time,” he mentioned, however, he forgot about the condition and it was too much for his body and he fainted.
“Those who are my true fans know that I have a chronic hiatal hernia, that they had told me that the drinker had to control it, even more so until it was cancelled, and that day I completely forgot,” explained the singer of ‘Ya supérame’.
At the end of December 2022, Eduin shared with his fans that he was hospitalized because he was going to undergo several interventions:
“I forgot to tell you. What happens is that we are undergoing some treatments, because I am going to have surgery and there are going to be several operations because one thing leads to another. Then I am going to explain more or less what I am going to do, but now we are going to walk better, God willing.
The hiatal hernia was one of the causes why the singer José José lost his voice; the governor of Chihuahua Maru Campos also has the same condition and even the former governor César Duarte underwent surgery for that reason.
The Mayo Clinic explains that a hiatal hernia occurs when the upper part of the stomach protrudes through the large muscle that separates the abdomen from the diaphragm, which has a hole called the hiatus, through which the esophagus passes.
It usually doesn’t cause problems, but if it’s large, food and acid may back up your esophagus, causing heartburn and requiring surgery.
