LH Mikl-Leitner/LR Teschl-Hofmeister: Pupils and apprentices benefit from the blue and yellow school start fee of 100 euros
St. Polten (OTS) – Since last Wednesday, August 16, 2023, the blue and yellow school start fee can be paid under www.noe.gv.at be requested. All pupils and all apprentices can receive a financial subsidy of 100 euros at the start of school. In the first six days, over 60,000 applications have already been received online, which are being processed as quickly as possible.
“Starting school is a financial burden for many families, especially in times of rising prices. With the blue and yellow school start money, we want to cushion the additional expenses of our families as much as possible. I am pleased that this measure is so well received by the families in Lower Austria and that our provincial administration is processing it so quickly and unbureaucratically,” says Provincial Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, adding: “We support all schoolchildren and all apprentices. It doesn’t depend on the parents’ income, because in Lower Austria every child is worth the same to us.”
Education Minister Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister emphasizes: “With this initiative, we are continuing the success story from the previous year, when over 186,000 or 93 percent of around 200,000 beneficiaries took advantage of the school start allowance. Again this year, up to 200,000 children and young people can benefit from the blue and yellow school start money. On the part of the state, we are making a total of around 20 million euros available for this.”
State Office Director Werner Trock adds that the processing of applications is highly automated. Submitting an application via smartphone is particularly convenient, as no additional documents need to be attached due to the direct connection to the central population register.
