Over 600 conscripts start their service in the Lithuanian army

Conscripts will serve under the headquarters of the “Geležinis Vilkas” infantry brigade in the Intelligence, Headquarters, Communications and, for the first time, Anti-tank companies, as well as in the Lithuanian Grand Duke Butigeidius Dragoons and the Lithuanian Grand Duke Vytenis General Support Logistics Battalions.

Most of the conscripts went to the service from Kaunas, Klaipėda and Šiauliai regions.

The nine-month NPPKT is carried out in military units according to the military training programs approved by the army commander.

Conscripts will begin their service with a three-month basic course, where they will acquire the most important knowledge of tactics, engineering, topography, formation, first aid, learn to use weapons and acquire other skills necessary for a soldier.

After this stage, the soldiers will be sworn in.

At the end of the basic course, the soldiers will be divided according to military specialties and will train to operate as part of a unit.

After completing the mandatory service and obtaining initial military training, soldiers will be able to apply for professional military service or will be included in the active reserve of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.

Soldiers will serve in the reserve for 10 years, and during this period they will be periodically called up to refresh their military skills.
