Mr. M, a businessman who has a house in Bangkok, Thailand. He loves Japanese culture, has a collection of tin toys, and loves cars, so he built a garage house with a hobby room and a garage space. The trigger was the first issue (first published in 1987) of the garage magazine “Garage Life” that I met when I went on a business trip to Singapore. He is also a heavy user who has come across a style of magazine he has never seen before and then purchases all of his garage life at Kinokuniya Bookstore in Thailand in the form of a subscription. Surrounded by strict security, the ultra-rare 1972 Kenmeri Skyline GT-R, the 2006 Porsche Carrera GT, Porsche 959S, and other ultra-rare cars appeared with the gate open. In addition, Honda NSX and Porsche GT3 RS were lined up in the garage.

50 car collection
Mr. M has been buying German cars since he bought Porsche in 1997, and he was also interested in Japanese sports cars with comparable potential. It seems that the number of cars owned is now well over 50, and it is said that all cars can not be put in the garage at home and are distributed to workplaces and maintenance shops to own cars. Among them, nine of his favorites are said to be housed in M House. The three-story garage house with reinforced steel, which is regarding 480 square meters, was asked by a Thai architectural designer while showing Garage Life magazine, and he said that he built it with the concept of a house that can accommodate a car.
Tin toys and Chogokin robots too!
What surprises me when I see the inside of the garage is that in addition to the car, Japanese tin toys and nostalgic Chogokin Robo are all packed in a collection case with a box. Most of them stopped by a hobby shop when they traveled to Japan and collected them. The toy collection is hard-core, starting in 1986, and it seems that there is one that costs 2 million yen in Japanese yen, but its value should probably have risen tremendously now. There is also a collection of model railroads in another room, and the entire building is M’s hobby room. In addition to Garage Life magazine, more than 2000 Japanese magazines such as Japanese toy books and clock books are neatly stored in the bookshelf that divides the living room, garage, and dining space. “I can’t read Japanese, but as a result of researching various garage and tin toys by looking at the pictures, a house containing such a collection was completed,” says M. “It is very helpful to have a Japanese garage that is devised and displayed in a limited space.” The garage has a stairwell, and the design that maximizes the hobby space, such as the view of the car from the second floor, was fun, and it was a truly overwhelming dream space.
