Outstanding participation of Conmebol in the continental forum to combat money laundering

Washington.-The 56th Meeting of the Group of Experts for the Control of Money Laundering (Gelavex), an OAS organization, included the presentation of the Director of Ethics and Compliance of CONMEBOL, Graciela Garay.

It maintained that the Confederation has “robust tools to ensure that all our operations reflect our values.”

The presence of CONMEBOL at this international meeting is part of its policy of frontal combat once morest corruption and money laundering, which has had another chapter with the recent appeal presented to the Paraguayan prosecutor investigating the operations between Nicolás Leoz and the Atlas Bank SA.

“At CONMEBOL we transform the challenge of preventing money laundering into an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to integrity and transparency in South American football. We have robust tools to ensure that all our operations reflect our values,” said CONMEBOL Director of Ethics and Compliance, Graciela Garay.

The declaration was made in Washington, within the framework of the 56th meeting of the Group of Experts for the Control of Money Laundering (Gelavex), an organization linked to the OAS and the main continental forum for debate on strategies and actions to prevent and combat money laundering in America.

The participation of CONMEBOL in this forum responds to the policy of frontal combat once morest corruption and money laundering that the Confederation has consistently carried out since 2016.
