Outstanding! Martin Schindler with a career novelty at Price’s match demonstration

Schindler with a career novelty

Pure ecstasy! That’s how crazy darts fans celebrated in Berlin

Martin Schindler is in the semi-finals of the European Darts Open – and following the game he can hardly believe it. In the fight for tournament victory, however, a Welshman sweeps across the field.

Gerwyn Price flexes his muscles – and not just in the usual way.

With an average of 105.64 points, the Welshman gave Dutchman Michael van Gerwen no chance in the 8:4 win in the 100th event on the European Tour in Riesa. “I know that I’m playing well at the moment and that I’m putting the others under pressure. Important doubles found the goal today,” Price analyzed soberly.

But the German players were also able to cause surprises at the weekend, above all a newcomer and Martin Schindler caused a stir with a career novelty.

Price immediately opened the final with a 180, van Gerwen broke immediately. The Welshman, who conjured up an average of over 102 points over the entire tournament, was able to take advantage of Van Gerwen’s weak double quota and quickly go 5:1 in front.

“Mighty Mike” still shook his head on stage, was visibly dissatisfied with a double rate of only 19% in the end. And prices? He just kept pounding 12-darters into the board, a demonstration of the Iceman’s strength.

Schindler provided a German highlight

But the highlight from a German point of view was the laps before: Martin Schindler stood for the first time in his career in the semifinals of a European Tour event.

With a 6-3 win over „The Ferret“ Jonny Clayton Schindler beat the second Premier League participant in the personal tournament in the quarter-finals and made it into the semi-finals for the first time. The Strausberger showed an outstanding performance with an average of 102.7 points and a double rate of 75%.

Schindler himself might hardly believe it following the quarter-finals: “Isn’t that awesome?” The spectators chanted “Martin Schindler” chants, “It takes a load off my heart.” In the semi-finals, “Mighty Mike” beat Michael van However, Gerwen beat the Germans 7:4 and played furiously at times.

Martin Schindler had already caused a big exclamation mark in the round of 16: After being 1:3 behind once morest the Premier League participants Nathan Aspinall was able to win “The Wall” five legs in a row and advance to the final night.

Niko Springer, which caused an emotional moment on Saturday, had to say goodbye as the penultimate German. He lost 6-3 in the round of 16 to second seed Damon Heta of Australia. A Munich darts hope also caused a sensation.

Van Gerwen zerlegt Wright in 13 Minutes

Another furious match was the 100th duel between Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright in the quarterfinals. In just 13 minutes, the Dutchman smashed his Scottish opponent 6-0, winning 12 consecutive legs across all matches.

After the game, however, Van Gerwen respected the former Scottish world champion, who only averaged 85.1 points on board: “He’s too good to continue playing like this. But we all know that he is going through a difficult time.
