the essential
The epidemic linked to Covid-19 is also declining in Lot-et-Garonne, the vaccination centers are gradually closing, it is city medicine that takes over.

Jean-Noël Chavanne, prefect of Lot-et-Garonne and Jean Dionis du Séjour, president of the agglomeration of Agen and mayor of Agen, yesterday held a press point relating to the evolution of the epidemiological situation in the department , as well as the schedule for the closure of vaccination centers, in the presence of Audrey Dansan, director of the Agen vaccination center, Aurélie Guillout, deputy director of the departmental delegation of the Regional Health Agency and services of the ‘National Education.
An appointment in the form of a way out of the health crisis: “We are witnessing a change in the crisis, but vaccination is still useful. From massive management, we are moving to individual management, with always collective management in the EHPADs. We can only rejoice in the evolution of the lesser gravity of the situations, recalling the usefulness of barrier gestures and the wearing of the mask which is no longer imposed, but left to the free appreciation of each one. My arrival was punctuated by the implementation of the organization of the mass vaccination campaign. Today, the covid gives way to the news, to the state of war and the reception of Ukrainian refugees in our country”, underlined the prefect, thanking the communities and partners who mobilized on this health crisis of great magnitude.

Vaccination centers close

The deputy director of the ARS provided some figures: 79.3% of the Lot-et-Garonne population received a dose of vaccine and 78.2% of the population holds a complete vaccination schedule. “Vaccination activity today is relatively weak. We are entering a phase of gradual closure of vaccination centres: the Nérac center closed on March 12, the Villeneuve center will close on March 19 and the centers in Agen (Editor’s note the congress center in this case) and Marmande will cease all activity on March 23. It is the city medicine (general practitioners and nursing offices) which will continue the vaccination”.
It also stipulated for the use of vaccine refractories by the RNA Messenger process, that a new vaccine manufactured by the Novavax laboratory is distributed by the health examination center linked to the CPAM. 3,100 doses are now available in the department with three dedicated followingnoons: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Among the target hearts, patients who do not wish to receive the Pfizer or Moderna anti-covid vaccine and those who have medical contraindications.
“We are also continuing pediatric vaccination, but the baton will be passed on to the maternal and child protection services of the departmental council which will ensure the continuity of vaccination, especially on Wednesdays. In Lot-et-Garonne, 1,228 children were vaccinated and anointed received a dose, i.e. 4.8%, which remains a low figure”, she indicated. She recalled that the vaccination pass and the wearing of a mask were suspended, but that they remained compulsory in health and medico-social establishments and more particularly to protect vulnerable and fragile people, but also contact case subjects had to wear it. .

83 hospitalizations

“The situation has improved, but we will have to learn to live with covid,” concluded Aurélie Guillout.
To date, 83 people are still hospitalized in Lot-et-Garonne and one person is in intensive care. From March 7 to 13, there is an incidence rate of 932 per 100,000 inhabitants, including 673 among those over 65 years of age. The positivity rate is 33.5%, including 28.8 for those over 65. We also note 2.5% of visits to the emergency room for suspicion of Covid and 26 cases grouped in nursing homes and medico-social establishments.

Learn lessons

Jean Dionis du Séjour spoke of an important date, that of March 14, which closes “two years of pandemic and emergency situation, even if the epidemic continues. As mayor, I believe that Lot-et-Garonne has been strong in this affair, thanks to the intervention of people involved in the organization of this crisis management, the local authorities, the State, the prefecture through Béatrice Lagarde and yourself, Mr. Prefect”. He associated in his thanks the vaccination teams who have taken turns at the convention center since the opening of the center. “We are moving to an ordinary epidemic with still a vaccination protocol, but we must integrate covid into our daily actions in the same way as the flu today”.
The mayor and president of the agglomeration wants to learn the lessons of this unprecedented crisis, by progressing in the hygiene requirements, particularly in municipal buildings and schools, and to register vaccination over time.
As such, the 2nd booster dose, i.e. the 4th injection, is accessible to residents of nursing homes and those over 80, three months following the first booster of the 3rd dose or proven covid.
