Cho started his youth career as a defensive midfielder. But as he could not shine enough in the midfield, Cho started playing as a striker as per the instructions of the coach. Cho Gyu Sung had a poor first season at the club. Later, Cho tied the boots for the military team. It was there that Cho Gyu Sung was transformed into a great footballer.
