Out of 2599 polling stations of Punjab, 419 are highly sensitive, 1081 are sensitive – Pakistan

The polling process for the by-elections is going on, out of 2599 polling stations of Punjab, 419 have been declared as highly sensitive, 1081 as sensitive.

According to the details, the polling process for the by-elections is going on in 21 constituencies of the National and Provincial Assembly across the country, where more than 4 million and 44 thousand voters will exercise their right to vote.

In this regard, IG Punjab Usman Anwar says that the Punjab Police is ready to conduct the by-election peacefully, transparently and safely, 419 of the 2599 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive and 1081 polling stations have been declared sensitive, including ladies police personnel. More than 35,000 officers are deployed for by-election security.

Dr. Usman Anwar said that security has been increased throughout the province including Lahore, Section 144 is in force throughout Punjab, elements hostile to peace are being closely watched, and no one will be allowed to obstruct the election process.

168 inspectors, SHOs and in-charge investigations are on duty while lady police are deployed for the security of women polling stations and women voters.

195 pickets are established at the entry and exit routes of Lahore where security is on high alert, more than 17 thousand police officers will perform security duties.

Bilal Siddique Kamiana further said that the code of conduct of Election Commission of Pakistan will be implemented and peace will be ensured during the election process.
