“Our prosperity is enough for everyone”

“Labor Day” in Steyr is traditionally marked by a social democratic rally. This year, city councilor Katrin Auer will give the keynote speech; she is also the top candidate for the National Council election in the constituency.

The May celebrations take place on May 1st in the forecourt of the Working World Museum, in case of bad weather in the MAW. “The inflation rates are still at the highest level in an EU comparison,” says Auer. According to the latest data from Statistics Austria, Austria is losing prosperity and corporations are once more posting record profits. “More and more people in Austria can no longer afford to live.” The city councilor and National Council candidate is convinced: “It’s enough. It’s enough. For all of us.” This ambiguous slogan is justified; the federal government and the VP-FP majority in the state parliament are making policies over people’s heads for the rich and for the profit maximization of corporations. “I, in turn, actively work to improve everyone’s life wherever possible. Our prosperity is enough for everyone,” says Auer, appearing combative.

The May celebrations and rally on “Labor Day” begin at 10 a.m. The young voices included are: SJ-OÖ chairwoman Eva Reiter and Benjamin Liedlbauer, he is the federal youth chairman of the PRO-GE union. Mayor Markus Vogl has the final word.
