Two Competing Teams
With eight goals scored by the team of Geoff Ward and six by the team of Luca Gianinazzi, it’s clear that both teams are proficient in front of the net. Their offensive capabilities make this matchup between the red and white and the black and white very intriguing.
LHC has won three consecutive home games against the Ticino team and has not lost to HC Lugano at Vaudoise Arena since 2022. In their last three encounters, our Lions managed to score four goals against their opponents each time. Will history repeat itself this Saturday?
Players to Watch
Theo Rochette is undoubtedly the standout player for Lausanne at the beginning of the season. After scoring twice on Tuesday against Genève-Servette, the LHC number 90 added two more points yesterday against HC Ajoie. With four points (3 goals & 1 assist) in two games, Théo will don the PostFinance Top Scorer jersey for the second consecutive time tonight. In addition, Janne Kuokkanen (1 goal & 2 assists) and Lauri Pajuniemi (1 goal) also had impressive performances yesterday in Porrentruy. Are we witnessing the emergence of a dominant line for the Lions?
On the Lugano side, the key players are well-known. The line of Carr-Joly-Thurkauf is undoubtedly one of the most dangerous in the league. In their second season together, the three star forwards of HC Lugano have started somewhat slowly, with Daniel Carr and Michael Joly each earning two points (2 assists) and Joly contributing with 1 goal and 1 assist. After missing the first match in Zug, international player Calvin Thurkauf was unable to register any points during his return to play last Thursday against HC Davos. The match against HC Lugano will also be a chance to see a familiar face, Use Sekac, who joined Ticino this summer after spending three seasons in Lausanne.
