One of the most interesting young metalcore bands of recent years is throwing in the towel. Major changes in the personal life of the last founder, Toby Young, led to the dissolution of the company our hollow, our home. This was preceded by the fourth and unfortunately final studio album, recorded and recorded as a quintet and for the first time with record label support. “Hope and Hell” Once again showing how much the troops from Southampton, UK will be missed.
As expected, the follow-up to Burning in the Flood takes no prisoners and pushes forward in a big way. The opening “Drifter” already makes it clear that we’re not ultimately playing it safe. Angry screams, anthemic vocals, futuristic synth inserts and thick hooks combine to create an electrifying atmosphere that’s instantly captivating and ignites the next pit. The next title song “Hope & Hell” incorporates powerful modern rock riff, with restrained and folk lyrics, releasing angry and exuberant pressure waves that penetrate directly into the cerebellum.
This almost essential folk song is not to be missed. This time the song is called “//In Reflection”, which hits people’s hearts directly and also highlights the British musical level. This is the highlight of their creative development in the past ten years. Of course, there’s no shortage of classic wrecking balls, including the frenetic “Lifeline.” “Our Hollow, Our Home” goes straight to the extreme, lighting up the pits and stringing glitches alongside powerful melodies – sometimes it’s that simple. Bodyguard “Blood Moon” also bundles all those qualities as the ultimate mission statement and deftly tweaks what has long been defined as the so-called metalcore formula that people see fit.
As a final, premature conclusion, “Our Hollows, Our Homes” gets the point across and once again emphasizes their class. Each of the ten songs tackles the subject matter in the best possible way, from complex ballads to abrasive hardcore breakers to a modern metalcore masterclass. “Hope & Hell” combines all the advantages and goes directly into the ear, making yourself comfortable there. It’s a shame for this exciting band.
