In his interview with Don Francisco on Channel 13, this Monday night, the new President Gabriel Boric attributed to a delay by King Felipe VI of Spain that his inauguration ceremony last Friday began 15 minutes late, qualifying the situation as “unacceptable”.
“I found it quite unacceptable that the ceremony was delayed because the King of Spain had been late. But hey, these are things that happen”, Boric recounted in the interview, in which he stressed that “one has to respect the established protocols”.

According to the Spanish newspaper El País, the swearing-in ceremony began 15 minutes late, according to the scheduled time. Felipe VI arrived last among the 12 heads of state expected in Valparaíso.
Felipe VI was present at Boric’s inauguration accompanied by the Second Vice President, Yolanda Díaz, the Minister for Equality, Irene Montero, and the President of the Senate, Ander Gil.
In response to Boric’s statements, official Spanish sources consulted by Third they assured their delegation “at all times followed the indications of the Chilean protocol and security, which are the ones who set the pace of arrival of the caravans.”
“In fact, the caravan with the Spanish delegation was waiting in line, behind others, until protocol and security gave the instruction that it might already be accessed,” they pointed out.
