The head of the independence movement, the candidate in the third northern district, Michel Moawad, confirmed that “Hezbollah’s strength has three pillars, which are its weapons, the circumvention in its environment and the Christian cover in the third north, i.e. the Free Patriotic Movement and the Marada,” stressing that “our battle is to bring down the Christian cover from Hezbollah.”
Regarding his accusation by the “Hezbollah” and Al-Akhbar newspaper that he is an American agent, he said via “LBC”: I am Lebanese and I am not ashamed of my international relations and open to the international and Arab community, and Al-Akhbar newspaper was founded by Imad Mughniyeh, as it is not a media outlet but rather a terrorist kit in the hands of Hezbollah. Intellectual terrorism “does not walk with us,” and Ibrahim al-Amin is a small agent at the axis.”
He continued: “We are facing those who brought us to this stage, namely the armed militia represented by Hezbollah and the corrupt system.”
He added, “There is no personal problem with the head of the movement, Gibran Bassil, nor with the leader of the Marada, Suleiman Franjieh, and I tried to extend a hand, but the issue today is their choice of an external axis at the expense of Lebanon.”
And he added: “The list of the North of the Confrontation is able to bring down Basil, and to topple him requires that he reap the glory of Harb with a higher score than Basil, and the battle receives nearly 1,000 votes.” He said: “Our list includes 4 independent candidates.”
On the reason for not allying with our north and the Lebanese Forces, Moawad said: “In our north, there are candidates who have no problem with Hezbollah, such as Layal Bou Moussa, and Tony Bashwati who has a nationalist background. As for the forces facing Hezbollah and truce the system through its alliances.”
Moawad continued: “In 2018, I dealt with the settlement that brought President Michel Aoun to Baabda and considered that Aoun should be given an opportunity that I regretted this choice and resigned from Parliament.” In my secret, nor in the electricity project, and I did not contribute to quotas or corruption.”
He stressed that “there is no inheritance where there is a ballot box, and I am proud to be the son of Rene Moawad, because he chose Lebanon until martyrdom.”
