A piece of Austria: The wilderness
The new series “A piece of Austria” is on the road in the most diverse regions throughout Austria – always on the lookout for small, fine stories. This time in the Dürrenstein-Lassingtal wilderness area and in the Rothwald primeval forest. Yes, indeed, in southwestern Lower Austria, near the Styrian border, you can find an area that has remained untouched since the last Ice Age. We explore the question of how the primeval forest might be preserved through all the centuries, what the disputes between two monasteries have to do with it and what role the timber industry plays in Austria.
